Situated on the side of the beck in the heart of the village overlooking the village green, Lavenders offers a high quality Tea Room venue, where you can choose from a delicious range of locally sourced products, and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere of its sumptuous, cosy interior, or watch the world go by outside on our courtyard terrace.

 

We offer Takeaways and Gifts with many of the products used in the tea rooms on sale to take home.

 

We also offer a helpful sale or hire Picnic Hamper Service where you can spoil yourself with lots of mouth-watering food and drink.  

Located in Thornton le Dale, we are fortunate to be in one of the finest areas of Yorkshire offering the visitor many beautiful walks, breathtaking landscapes, and many sites of historical interest, all under the umbrella of the North York Moors National Park.

 

On our doorstep is the famous Dalby Forest which boasts over fifty miles of mountain bike trails and an outdoor activities centre, and is rightfully regarded as a nature lovers dream. Around the corner from the tea room is Mathewsons Classic Car and Motor Museum - check out WHAT'S ON? for the next auction dates. For auction viewings, Mathewsons operate a Park and Ride bus service, picking up / dropping off at 1/ Pickering, 2/ Mathewsons auction facility at Thornton Road Industrial Estate, and 3/ Thornton Le Dale, close to Lavenders.

 

All of our staff are well trained and friendly, possessing Food Standards Agency Food Safety Training Certificates.

 

We are pleased to welcome dogs into our seated exterior courtyard, or small, calm dogs into our downstairs tea room area.

Exploring our wonderful surrounding countryside will certainly give you an appetite! 

Pickering, the home to the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway, is only a few minutes drive away by car, where you can park and enjoy a return ride on the historic stream train, all the way to Grosmont.

Along the 18 mile route are several stops. The first is at the picturesque village of Levisham, a perfect stop for walkers and cyclists.

 

Goathland station is a popular stop, as it is the home to the famous television series Heartbeat. At the end of the line at Grosmont station there is an opportunity to change and carry on by train all the way to Whitby, or take the return journey back to Pickering.

 

What better way then to complete a perfect day by enjoying one of our picnics freshly prepared for you and your family?
